Same procedure as last year, Ms Sophie?

Dinner for One is by far one of my favourite short films. James and all his characters trying to keep Ms Sophie happy throughout her dinner party. Cheerio, Ms Sophie!

Dinner for one, on the other hand, is not as much fun. A bit of company certainly makes a difference.
Alas, no company for me.
I did however have some very tasty Tomato Soup and, my favourite, Beef Fillet with Garlic Mash. No matter how often I have it, I never tire of the fillet. The perfect reward after an extremely busy day.
I've been on my feet since just before 6am and have only just retired to my room. My feet and lower back hate me...
It's now time to watch the last of the Ryder Cup singles matches with some coffee..

Tomorrow is going to be crazy busy..as well.

Bring it!

Long Day

Wow. Absolutely knackered right now.

It's been a long and busy day at the hotel today but, with the awesome team that we have, it has actually gone by quite quickly and without incident. Here's hoping that tomorrow flies by. I'm the Weekend Duty Manager this weekend, so my feet are going to love me come Monday morning.
Spoke to a few of our guests this evening and each and every one has enjoyed their stay. Nothing better than a happy guest.

Some few highlights from today:
Seeing my youngest niece this morning all full of smiles and mischief (she's been running a temperature the whole week, but seems to be over it now).
The Boks and Bryan Habana sticking it to the Wobblies this afternoon.
The Cappuccino and Double Chocolate Brownie that I had from our Deli...to die for!
Teaching one of our younger guests how to do that trick where it looks like you're pulling your thumb off.

Lowlights:
Province losing to the Lions at Newlands...nuff said.
United losing to Spurs at Old Trafford...nuff said.
Suarez scoring a hat trick for Liverpool. REALLY don't like that dude.

Now for some coffee so that I can stay up and watch the Argies give the All Blacks a run for their money.
It's going to be a long day tomorrow... Oh Well..

Keep Calm and...well...just Keep Calm

For some reason, I am having one of those days.
Perhaps it was the fun time spent in traffic this morning getting to work...
Or the fact that I am still waiting on information from other parties that I need in order to meet my deadlines...
Or it could be from that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you stand around in a store trying to get the attention of a shop assistant and get ignored...
Perhaps it's just the fact that people just can't seem to get my surname right...

Whatever it is, at least the day is almost over and Red Wine shall be my salvation!

Instant Idiots, just add water

Why is it that a little bit of water can turn the most responsible of drivers into a bunch of blithering idiots?
Don’t get me wrong, I love Cape Town. And I love the rain, but add driving to the equation and you can count me out. My dormant road rage begs me daily for reasons to surface, so like Bruce Banner, it’s safer to distance myself from the madness.
Instead, I’ll be hiding out in Canal Walk till the traffic dies down, trying not to spend any money..a challenge in itself..
Oh well.

Entrance, pursued by an apple

Okay, so it’s hardly Shakespeare, but then I dare say I am no playwright..
So, a little background:
This is my first attempt at a blog of any kind, so here goes.
I live in the Mother City. Born in Paarl (wine flows through my veins), grew up in George and spent some time in East London. But Cape Town is home.
I am in the Hospitality trade (have been for the past 13 years) and am still enjoying it. I am currently in procurement, but have held many different positions which gives me a good knowledge and experience base to work from. I quite enjoy passing on my knowledge to the younger generation. (wow, that made me sound old…)
Currently I am extremely enthralled with Social Media and it’s uses in business. So much so that I am doing an 8 week Certificate in Social Media. Where this will take me, who knows. Perhaps I’ll become a Brand Manager..
I’m on week 5 at the moment, so almost done. Crazy how time flies when you’re having fun. And my results haven’t been to bad either. Above class average for the first 3 assignments, with assignment 4 and 5 already submitted. Now just waiting to be put out of my misery.. Meeting many new people, which is great!
In other news, I have finally managed to finish writing a song (two in fact).. I play guitar (not very well but, hey..). My song writing tends to be my crutch for dealing with break ups. I started writing one over 4 years ago, which is not completed as yet. 3 months ago, I found myself in the position of needing my crutch. After 4 glorious years, alas, my relationship broke down. Needless to say, this got the creative juices flowing and I was able to pen lyrics to two different songs as well as chords for a 3rd and totally unrelated song (or maybe it just needs to be reworked). At this stage I don’t think anyone will ever hear these songs, but I find it to be a good release.
Anyway, enough from me for now.
Catch you on the flipside.
